Petra specialises in the history of science in the modern era and in particular astronomy. She obtained a PhD in Physics Education and General Problems of Physics from the Charles University in 2022 for her dissertation “Research and education at astronomical institutes of the Czech and German universities in Prague in years 1882-1945”. She teaches a seminar on the history of astronomy at the Charles University, is a member of Society for the History of Science and Technology and has published a number of papers on the history of astronomy in Bohemia in the 19th and 20th centuries.

As a member of PragMatika, Petra focuses on the history of astronomy in the Czech lands at the end of the 18th century and during the first half of the 19th century and collaborates in the preparation of Bolzano’s written estate kept under the care of the Muzeum literatury for its digitisation.
